Jennifer Lopez hair tutorial: get her high-volume ponytail

Jennifer Lopez has a flowing mane that’s almost as show-stopping as her on-stage wardrobe. For an appearance on BET’s 106 & Park she opted for a high-volume ponytail. After a lot of hair swishing at the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony in Brazil, J-Lo’s locks are having an impressive week!

To recreate her on-screen look, just follow the tutorial below.

Step one

After washing and towel-drying your hair, scrunch Advanced Hairstyle BOOST IT Volume Inject Mousse evenly throughout then blow-dry. This will give your hair extra body and volume from the get-go, making the following steps really easy. When drying the hair, use a large barrel brush to get an outward curve at the ends.

Step two

Once dried, brush your hair through then gather it all up into a high ponytail and secure with a hair tie. Take a small section of hair from the ‘tail and wrap it around the base of the pony to camouflage the hair tie. Secure with a pin underneath to make sure it stays put.

Step three

Spray the pony with Advanced Hairstyle BOOST IT High Lift Creation Spray then gently back-comb it at the top to build more volume. You don’t need to do a lot of teasing to get your ponytail looking more voluminous, and make sure to leave the lower three or four inches alone so the curved ends don’t get compromised.

Step four

Spray your whole style liberally with Advanced Hairstyle LOCK IT Bold Control Hairspray to give you long lasting hold and defend your ‘do against humidity.

What do you think? Will you be stealing Jen’s XXL pony?
