How to tease your hair gently

If you have really fine hair or you just really want to go seriously XXL with a retro bouffant, teasing is a styling technique that comes all too naturally. The problem is, teasing can be really damaging to hair strands, follicles and roots when it isn’t done properly. That said, it’s totally possible to tease your hair without any negative repercussions, you just need to know how.

First of all, if you’re planning a hairstyle that requires teasing, set aside some extra time because the last thing you want to do is rush this process. Teasing hair too quickly and subsequently yanking the strands roughly in many directions is what causes the damage which, unfortunately, can result in split ends and breakage.

Try a little tenderness…

The most important thing to remember is that you should also be very gentle with your hair when teasing, for the same reason. Using a bristle brush or fine-tooth comb and gently tease hair back on itself.

Work in small sections and, whatever you do, don’t force your hair back towards the roots too harshly once it’s already been teased. If it feels like it won’t move easily anymore, it’s been teased enough.

Make it easy

You should also use a product to help minimize the amount of teasing required to achieve high-volume results. Advanced Hairstyle BOOST IT High Lift Creation Spray is designed to encourage root lift and to hold volumized styles in place for big results. It will save time and, a whole lot of stress for your hair!

Take care

Your hair will best handle teasing when it’s in good condition and well-hydrated. If you do a lot of styling, make sure you’re using shampoos and conditioners that promote strong, healthy hair and make time for a nourishing mask every now and then to keep your locks well hydrated.

That’s all there is to it, really. Just be gentle, use hairspray to give you a helping hand and look after your tresses as best you can!
